Animal-Human Hybrids - An Ethical Perspective

On May 17th (2007) the Government published its Draft Human Tissues and Embryos Bill and on July 11th the Prime Minister confirmed that the Bill will be in the Queen’s Speech this November. This will be an opportunity to hear about current developments and the implications of the Bill.

Christian Education in Schools

Two talks from our April conference the aim of which was to challenge churches and educationalists alike to work towards using an inter-denominational approach to Christian education in schools.  We have sent a letter to denominational leaders and free church groupings to challenge them to build on the opportunities that are currently available.

Speakers will be Peter Kimber addressing "What Should We Tell Young People?" and Bill Horton addressing "How Do We Do It Together?"

 

The Crisis of Ethics

This talk followed the Annual General Meeting

Howard Taylor who has spoken at the Scottish Order of Christian Unity before, started his ministry in Malawi, having gone there to teach Maths.  While in Malawi he was ordained and served for ten years as a minister of African Congregations before returning to the UK and serving as a Church of Scotland minister in Argyll and then Glasgow.  He is currently Chaplain to Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.  He is also visiting lecturer at Glasgow's International Christian College, (ICC) - teaching: The Christian Faith and Contemporary Thought; Ethics in Crisis and also Christianity and Modern Science. He is also joint tutor in 'The Philosphy of Science and Theology' in Edinburgh University's Office of Life Long Learning.  Howard is married with three sons and four grandchildren and believes that we need “A reasonable and relevant faith that makes sense of, and gives hope for, the modern world.”
